American Powertrain Releases Universal Transmission Crossmember

The new X-Factor Stretch crossmember from American Powertrain was designed to make the job of fitting a crossmember to a transmission easier. The Strech crossmember spans 26–32 inches inside the frame rails and can be bolted or welded in place to provide a wide range of fitment possibilities that have clearance for large diameter exhaust tubes.

The X-Factor Stretch crossmember is made from hot-pressed T-6061 aluminum to ensure that it’s light and strong, said the company. It can be used for a variety of street or track applications and features unique end supports made from low carbon steel.

All stock parts are powdercoated in metallic aluminum and come with an aluminum center section, steel end supports and grade-8 hardware. Applications include classic four-speeds, modern five- and six-speeds, and all vintage and late-model applications.

The DYAD DS Multi-Disc Clutch by Centerforce is now available for all Chevy/GMC 153-tooth V-8 engines with a 26 spline disc, excluding the 400-inch with 2pcs rear main. This new Multi-Disc clutch system replaces the current pressure plate, disc, and flywheel assembly with a higher holding capacity system, and is designed for direct bolt-in replacement.

Introduced in 1980, the AOD has been used in nearly every model of Ford vehicle requiring a durable, compact overdrive transmission. The AOD is a good swap choice from the C-4, C-6 of FMX transmissions and shares many common dimensions with these units. Low gear ratio is 2:40 to 1 and overdrive is 0:67 to 1. This trans uses the small block bell housing pattern which fits 250 and 300 6 cyl., 289, 302, 351 Windsor and 351 Cleveland.
