Default 70 Chevy C10 drum to disk

Ok, I posted this question in the GM Truck discussion a few days ago but haven't gotten an answer yet...so figured I'd try posting my question here.

I'm looking at my options for upgrading my front brakes from drum to disk and I had a question regarding the booster. My truck is a 1970 Chevy CST/10 fleetside with power drum brakes. Since my truck already has power drum brakes, and has a booster, I was wondering if I need to replace the booster and why it had to be replaced. Or can I just replace the master cylinder and add a proportioning valve to the existing booster?

Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

    Hi Steve,

I was planning on 5 lug. My brother-in-law has a 76 front end I was going to look at using and it is 5 lug.

    Thanks.

    Good Morning Brian,

If your stock booster is still in good shape you can buy a master/prop valve combo to go onto it. They sell for $139.00. So you can get into the brake kit and the master/prop kit for $838.00. See the link below:

    and

Both will be a great fit for this truck!

Thanks and let me know if you have any questions.

    Aaron,

Thanks for the info. Helps clear it up for me. Gotta try to save the bucks where I can, so good to hear I can use my stock booster.

Thanks for the links to the master/prop kit, and the brake kit. Now I can plan my budget.

    Thanks.
