Center steer rack & pinion question

I was looking at one of your tech articles " Updating a 50 Olds". I have a Buick of similar vintage I am working on and trying to figure out a steering system for it. I don't know who wrote this or how old of an article this is, but the rack and pinion on there looks like that could work for me. I have never seen another article where a rack like this was used. 2 questions= Do you have any experience with this center type tie rod mounting. Does that work out well? Also this article show a mounting bracket or cradle to hold this rack on the frame. Was that a homemade cradle or does/did somebody make that for sale? Thanks for any help!
