Thread: `55 Chevy master link repair kit?

Default `55 Chevy master link repair kit?

Trying to install CPP master link repair kit. The new parts wont`t fit. New parts with springs & all... come flush to the end of link. New parts don`t even allow me to engage a thread or two of end plug.
Other forums have suggested turning steering wheel to gain leverage. My repair is off car. (Changing from original power steering to manual + it`s a frame-off resto`). What to do?

If the spring cannot be compressed enough you can remove a little of the small coils winding (compare to your stock one) and may make this easier to install. Dont cut too much off though. There needs to be alot of tension on them to work correctly.
